Association: Unlimited data is a farce with the public.

Mobile Data Unlimited period has been launched in the country from today. Grameenphone, Robi, Banglalink and Teletalk subscribers will have the opportunity to purchase unlimited mobile data packages. Telecommunications regulator or BTRC has announced an unlimited data package.

Discussions have been going on on social media since the announcement of the Unlimited Data Package. Many feel that this data package is not in the best interest of the customer. In this regard, the Bangladesh Mobile Phone Subscribers Association thinks that the price of data has been increased in the name of unlimited packages.

In a statement, Mohiuddin Ahmed, president of the organization, said the regulator had ridiculed the public by announcing the unlimited data package. The Minister himself and the regulatory body came under fire from operators for complying with our demand for data return. In our opinion, the price of data has more than doubled in the name of Unlimited to compensate the operators and to benefit the people. Which is nothing but a farce with a kind of people.

He further said that 70 per cent of the total customers in the country are ordinary customers and the current package, which can be used by corporate persons, is a high-priced package for all. It is very sad to launch such a package despite knowing that it is not suitable for everyone. We think that all the other stakeholders including the customer representative and the media should fix the price and cancel the current package and announce the new package again. Operators, customers and the state must take these three interests into consideration.
